This Website contains the acoustic performance of Raymond Files and Tony Alicea (yours truly) at The Crow's Nest club in Ridge, Long Island, New York the night of Friday December 2, 1977. The club was (and maybe still is?) located on Route 25 one mile west of William Floyd Parkway. Tony plays lead acoustic (Ovation) guitar and Raymond is the lead singer and also plays rhythm guitar. The titles are followed by the playing time in minutes and seconds and by the MP3 file size. Both Tony and Ray were part of the significant early rock music movement of the sixties in Puerto Rico. They went through all the vagaries and the highs and lows associated with playing in a successful 1960s rock band at a very early age. TECHNICAL NOTE. The "Regular MP3" files below are all MPEG-2 Layer 3 files. First, the original audio tape was digitized with the Ensoniq Soundscape Elite sound card at 44.1Khz, 16-bit, stereo. Then, using the Audioactive Production Studio Pro v1.5.4, the files were encoded into MP3s at 32Kbps and 22.05Khz, mono. The "High Quality MP3" (MPEG-1, Layer 3) files were recently encoded in stereo with the new MusicMatch 7 encoder (which is licensed from the Fraunhofer Institute), at 128 Kbps, 44.1Khz, and with the HQ (High Quality) option which takes much longer to encode since it performs a full Fraunhofer encoding ("thank God for Pentium 4s!") If you are using the Microsoft Windows operating system you probably already have the Microsoft Windows Media Player installed. Another MP3 player for Windows is Winamp. These files are NOT INTENDED to be listened to as they download. It is best to download them FIRST and then play them from your hard drive.
You are all welcome to visit Tony Alicea's home page. It contains a few first-hand anecdotes related to the history of 1960s rock music in Puerto Rico.
