Ryan's Reviews
By: Flyin Ryan (fynryn@yahoo.com)

Now that Miss. Pryde is becoming a more regular feature of the comic book world once more, I have opted with the encouragement of a friend and fellow Shadowcat fan to keep every one updated on her latest happenings.

Let's start with a bit of a recap....

Kitty joined the X-men at age 13, went on several adventures including one that united her with her best friend Lockheed the alien dragon, whom for some reason is not currently in her company... unless you count the (temporary?) tattoo on her arm. Circumstances eventually led her to spend time in the British Isles as part of Excalibur before returning again to the X-men for a time. Things got ugly in a 6 month period yet to be revealed, leading Kitty to eventually depart the X-men and superhero lifestyle; in general favoring studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she studies physics and works at a bar... or did until the current storyline in Extreme X-Men.

"God Loves Man Kills 2" a sequel to an enormously popular graphic novel (seen at left) which in part led to the second X-men movie, kicks off with Reverend Striker being fried by Lady Deathstrike (Yuriko Oyama) during transport form one prison to another. For some as yet unexplained reason, they come after Kitty working unassumingly at the bar. Caught by surprise, Kitty was unaware who her captors were until Striker tried some sort of mind control on her.

It's a war of the religious nuts! "Paul" of "Mt. Haven" sends some sort of techno-virus that rides Stryker's computer systems and forces control onto Deathstrike like a puppet. Her mind is her own, but she has no control of her body. Stryker is forced to don some crazy armor collar onto himself and Kitty and use her power of intangibility keeping them stationary relative to the Earth's rotation to send them near Mt. Haven where an RV full of a family bringing that kid to the "sanctuary" would have run the intangible Kitty over as she had been left just standing in the road. Kitty falls unconscious and is carried to the small society in the mountains. But where is Striker?

Kitty wakes up face to face with Paul whom she seems to trust for some odd reason. He gives her more modest attire than her working clothes and takes her out to see the town complete with malt shop where she gets to know the young mutant that helped her back on the road. One odd thing about Mt. Haven, it's all young mutants. No older people or regular humans. Kitty catches a few glimpses of Striker but is never able to catch him. She soon mysteriously passes out, and Paul insists she be left in his care that he will find away to save her. What does Paul have in store for Kitty? What’s Stryker up to? Keep reading X-treme X-men to find out!
