I have good reasons for no updates I swear, but anyway, I wanted to drop a line here and give you a couple of little updates on Pete. Unless you've been living under a rock, I will assume that most of you know that Pete has his own LS out right now and I have to say I have been impressed by it so far. I've only read two of the six issues, but the guy writing Pete sure seems to GET Pete and how he'd react to things. The series is a bit wierd and you might have to do some looking up on legends and stuff for Great Britain, but seriously entertaining reading. I'd pick it up. If you're NOT a Pete Wisdom fan and instead a pure Pryde and Wisdom fan, don't pick up the series though as Kitty is not in it at all.

As for the New Excalibur series if you're a Pryde and Wisdom fan I'd pick up the first two issues or so and that's about it because at least Kitty and Pete are getting along, although if you were like me you just get MAJORLY disillusioned after that because Kitty then jumps into bed with Piotr like two issues later and Pete jumps into the sack with Sage as an attempt by Marvel to once again wipe all traces of Pete and Kitty as a couple off the face of the planet in as fakey a way as possible just to irritate those of us who have half a brain. Actually about the first two issues? If you are a Pete fan I'd probably suggest only getting like the first two issues too. The writing on that thing just isn't that great. Just my opinion though.

Well, it's been a while since the last update. Pete has officially been started in the New Excalibur series. The new series is on issue, I believe, 5. What is great about the first couple of issues, especially the first one is that Pryde and Wisdom are back for some dialogue exchange and surprisingly Claremont treated it well. Kitty is seen more with Rachel than with Pete, which sort of disappointed me as Claremont was doing a pretty good job of writing them both for a change, but it wasn't to be. Now we're on later issues and already Pete is showing interest in Sage and is drinking wine instead of whiskey, which isn't like him, so my hopes that the series would be a cool showing of Pete are somewhat dimmed. But, overall, I'd suggest at least the first couple of issues because for a man who has proclaimed repeatedly to hate Pete, Claremont actually does NOT do that bad of a job with him.

What IS great about it though is that already you're seeing letters in the letters page from readers of the first issue asking when Pryde and Wisdom are getting back together, so hey maybe if they're PRINTING those types of letters maybe JUST maybe there is hope out there that we'll see the couple get back together again! And if Warren Ellis could write them again I'd be so happy. But, we shall see. At least Pete's writing in the book isn't God awful yet, so if you want to read Pete do it now while the series is young and enjoy seeing the bitter Brit again!

Well, it's been over a year now and finally I have some news for you all out there. From Claremont's own mouth, Pete Wisdom is to be appearing in Excalibur sometime soon. So, he's definitively alive. Claremont also says that he's always liked Pete, which I know to be a lie because he's stated many times that he doesn't like Pete one bit and he hates Warren Ellis with a passion. So, I guess we'll have to see how this goes. A lot of people think that Pete's going to end up being portrayed VERY badly and that it's going to be a very bad joke. I guess we will have to see. At any rate, at least Pete will be alive this way. And Kitty and Lockheed are reunited and acting mostly normal (at least its a vast improvement over the past 8 or so years), so maybe, hopefully, we might see a Pryde and Wisdom reunion someday. That would make me sooooo happy. But for now I'm at least hopeful, which is more than I've been in a long time.

Well, as an update about Excalibur, it has become known that Pete is NOT going to be in Excalibur and as far as anyone knows, he's still alive, but he's not going to be coming back from the "Marvel dead" anytime soon. Mainly because Chris Claremont hates his guts. Personally, I feel we should all lower our heads and be grateful because Claremont has been slaughtering Kitty's character and I personally do not want him to get anywhere near Pete. I mean, to me, Kitty is worse than dead right now. At least Pete still has his solid characterization behind him and people won't forget what a good character he was because he's not being written. Kitty is being killed over and over again month after month. And Marvel doesn't listen to us fans.

The Letter writing campaign for Pryde and Wisdom, and for Kitty period, was an absolute failure. For further details check out the following link...

A Call To Arms...A failure

Thanks to all those who wrote in and tried.

There is a new Pryde and Wisdom puzzle that I just created if anyone wants to play around with it. Go here...

Solve the Pryde and Wisdom Puzzle

Hope you enjoy and to all the Pryde and Wisdom fans out there...I'm sorry I can't do more to keep Pryde and Wisdom alive.

Excalibur Returns!

I'd like to thank Helen for pointing me toward this article. This article is off of Newsarama (Want to check out the original article? http://newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8329 Follow that link).

"X-TREME X-MEN ENDS IN APRIL

While Marvel has already announced that the X-Men franchise will be “Reloaded” in 2004, actual facts have been hard to come by - until now. While not going into much detail, Marvel has confirmed for Newsarama that X-Treme X-Men will end in April, with a replacement waiting in the wings.

The month will see two issues of the series ship, both written by Chris Claremont and penciled by Igor Kordey. Issue #45 will conclude the “Prisoner of Fire” storyline, while issue #46 will be a stand-alone finale issue, with the team facing a transition point in their lives.

X-Treme X-Men is consistently one of Marvel's better-selling titles, consistently landing in the Top 20 comics or above in any given month.

The series will be replaced by a new Excalibur series in May.

Marvel Editor in Chief Joe Quesada confirmed the changes in the X-lineup for Newsarama, saying:

“We have a very solid strategy brewing with the X-Books which we have discussed with all the current and future teams. X-Treme doesn't quite go away, it morphs into another title but you'll hear about that soon enough.

”As for Excalibur, not all is as it seems. Chris had an amazing concept for the book and then he and I spitballed a bit and made it that much juicier. It will have some of the most unexpected happenings in the X Universe in a long time.”"

***********

Whether or not this is good or bad news is yet to be seen. Personally? I have absolutely no hope that this book will be good as Chris Claremont is writing it. Just from talking to past fans and from past experience, the man doesn't listen to what fans want to be done with Kitty or any member of Excalibur and refuses to listen to anyone, other than those who say that he's perfect and can do no wrong. So, basically, Marvel lost my vote of confidence a loonnnnnnnngggg time ago when they broke up Pryde and Wisdom and sent Kitty's character into the dumpster and sent Lockheed MIA in Wolverine. So, I have no faith that this book will be anything but the typical fare that Marvel puts out now a days...not worth reading fare. There's my humble opinion for the day. Now Marvel, if you read this, this is your opportunity to prove me wrong. Good luck.

Pete News!

Well, actually this is the most recent appearance of Pete and I thought everyone who cared about the bitter British sod would want to know about it. Pete, as we all know, took a bullet to the back of the head a while back in X-force after he led the team for a while. Well, it has been shown through foreshadowing that Pete is in fact not dead, somehow and is watching how things are going. His hair is longer than the last time we saw him just as a side note.

Well after that one scene a while back Pete once again dropped off the face of the planet like the true espionage agent he is and we hadn't seen anything of him (to the point I thought it was a conspiracy and that Marvel was trying to do everything in their power to pretend Pete Wisdom never existed and that they were going out of their way to make sure that everyone believed that Kitty and Pete never had anything resembling a "relationship"). Now in Mechanix we get an idea of the opinion that Claremont had of Pete Wisdom. Kitty is reflecting back on all of the people she has lost through the years in the cause of mutant and human co-existance. Magneto gets a bigger mention than Pete, but we see Pete in a picture on Kitty's cork board and she just reflects that he was her attempt to be too old when she was too young to be in a real relationship. It made me shudder to see it. I mean of all of the ways to think of Pete, you would think that Kitty would remember him as at least a friend. But, hey, I am one of the "Pryde and Wisdom" fans so I am most definitely biased.

But I was also upset that Magneto, a guy that Kitty wasn't even FOND of and who betrayed all of her friends more than once, got a longer mention than Illyana. She was mentioned as just "My best friend" and that was it. One line. That was it. I would have expected better from any writer, but from Claremont I DEFINITELY expected more. I mean this is the guy who can have a character have an entire DIALOGUE with themselves in mid-leap or as a bullet is flying toward them, but he can't come up with any words for Pete or Illyana when Kitty thinks back on them???? I mean that was pathetic.

I am heartened by the fact that Lockheed is appearing in the books again, even if it took five years for them to realize the little dragon was missing. So, if Kitty was in hiatus for almost two years (pretty much because when she was used she just got shot into the atmosphere and then disappeared again and then came back to the X-men, Piotr died and she left again) and Lockheed was missing for about five, then we can only assume that Pete has *thinks* about two to three years left and then we'll see him in the books again on a regular basis and by that time hopefully Alan Davis or Warren Ellis will be writing him.
