Some of you come to this page, I am sure, and ask yourselves, "Who in the Heck is Lockheed and what does he do?". Well I am going to tell you a bit about who Lockheed is and why I decided to do a page to the little guy.

Actually, I was inspired to do a page to Lockheed AND Pete because both of the characters are very close to Kitty Pryde, aka Shadowcat, my favorite X-character of all time. Both characters seem to be characters that Marvel writers created, treated very well and made very close to Kitty and then *snaps fingers* poof, both characters disappeared off the face of the planet. Writers and editors alike seemed to not really give a darn that both characters were horribly mistreated and/or ignored that they existed. And lastly, both characters for very stupid reasons were taken out of the books (with Lockheed we JUST found that out). I was also inspired to do a page to Lockheed because of my Sister-in-law, Ana who wanted to do a Lockheed page of her own. I realized how much I really DID miss Lockheed in the books and how very few pages there were dedicated to Lockheed and so I am adding a small one to the mass.

Lockheed the Dragon, as he is formally called, has always been one of my favorite side characters of all time. Lockheed, first and foremost, is always interested most in his stomach. Kitty Pryde is a close second on his list of favorite things in the universe. Lockheed is VERY VERY loyal to Kitty and never leaves her side (with some very stupid exceptions...see Lockheed's history for further details). I honestly think that if there wasn't a species barrier between Kitty and Lockheed they may very well have ended up together (but good thing they didn't because we then got Pete Wisdom out of the deal *yay!!!*).

Lockheed is a small dragon alien that was introduced a long time ago in Uncanny X-men #166. It is a very classic period in X-mendom. Lockheed comes into Kitty's life in the middle of the Brood Saga (probably the best X-men storyline of all time) and hasn't left her life since. I think, consecutively, Lockheed is probably one of the side characters that has appeared the most in comics, but I can't be sure. All I really know about it is that since I first read an issue with him in it, I have loved the little critter. He's mean to any who oppose him and very fierce in battle. He'll stand by Kitty even when the odds are very much against them and Kitty figures they are going to die. He seems to talk a language only Kitty can understand completely (and NO I do not acknowledge what Raab did with Lockheed's speech patterns in Excalibur), but people can make out words that Lockheed speaks. Lockheed has his secrets. Professor Xavier, nor any telepath, can read his mind and figure out where he originally came from or if he is truly the last of his kind or not. But, Kitty doesn't seem to mind him having his secrets. She just enjoys being around Lockheed, and he around her.

So welcome to a page that will explore Lockheed the Dragon a few things that make him great. Have fun!
