Hobbies and Music

Favorite hobbies?

Well as a matter of fact this whole webpage is one (LOL!!!) *Note: That's 'laughing out loud' for everyone new to the net*. I love to work on my webpage, draw/paint, write (wonder where evidence of that could exist at), read, cook, find new ways to find room in your home and do it with the house still looking good, listen to music (I'll tell you those favorites in a minute), knit, do embroidery/sewing, growing my garden in the spring through the fall, and all KINDS of other things. I do a lot of things people would consider odd, but I'll come up with new ways to build stuff should I want to when it catches my fancy and I just love doing things where I'm active and can use my mind and hands. Maybe that's one of the reasons me and math don't get along at ALL well...I have no idea.

I collect frogs (toy and ceramic) and love to play with them (as does my husband...he does really cool stuff with them). Right now my favorite frog to play with is my stuffed frog Fritters. He's shaped almost like a muppet so that when you're depressed you can play with him and laugh at what expressions you can make him have. My first frog ever (and one that holds a special place in my heart is my sand critter Frogger (yes I named him after the old Atari game...I'm odd what can I say). He's also my most well traveled frog. He has been with me to every part of the country I've been to and recently traveled through Canada and I can now brag that he has been from one end of the country to the other. I mean he's been from Alaska to Maine...that is pretty hard to beat.

I almost sent him to my brother to take with him to France and around Europe (when he took the trip a while back), but I still hope to make it there someday, so the frog can wait to see it some other time. Frogger was actually a gift from a friend of mine, but he's just the right size of a frog and is great to just throw around or plant on your knee or what have you. Here's a picture because I find it cute...

Favorite Music

Well my favorite bands are pretty much tied, but the ones that come out on top are (right now) are Def Leppard, Aqua, Matchbox 20, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Ozborne, Blondie, Frank Sinatra (even though my husband only likes Nancy out of that family ;-), DEVO (my husband wore me down and now I think I'm a fan...I have their songs in my head all the time anyway), The Ramones, The Cars (kick BUTT!!!), Whitesnake, Heart, Cyndi Lauper, The Goo Goo Dolls, Sting (a few select songs anyway) and others. I listen to a whole range of people and have gained an appreiciation for some forms of classic music.

And for the great final little bit...the full song of "Cows with Guns" since I find it funny as all get out...

Cows with Guns by: Dana Lyons

Fat and docile, bit and dumb
They look so stupid, they aren't much fun
Cows aren't fun

They eat to grow, grow to die
Die to be et at the hamburger fry
Cows well done

Nobody thunk it, nobody knew
No one imagined the great cow guru
Cows are one

He hid in the forest, read books with great zeal
He loved Che Guevera, a revolutionary veal
Cow Tse Tongue

He spoke about justice, but nobody stirred
He felt like an outcast alone in the herd
Cow doldrums

He mooed we must fight, escape or we'll die
Cows gathered around cause the steaks were so high
Bad cow pun

But then he was captured, stuffed into a crate
Loaded onto a truck where he rode to his fate
Cows are bummed

He was a scrawny calf, who looked rather woozy
No one expected he was packing an uzi
Cows with guns

They came with a needle to stick in his thigh
He kicked for the groin he pissed in their eye
Cow well hung

Knocked over a tractor and ran for the door
Six gallons of gas flowed out on the floor
Run cows run!

He picked up a bullhorn and jumped on the hay
We are free roaming bovines, we run free today

Chorus
We will fight for bovine freedom
And hold our large heads high
We will run free with the buffalo, or die
Cows with guns

They crashed the gate in a great stampede
Tipped over a milk truck, torched all the feed
Cows have fun

Sixty police cars were piled in a heap
Covered in cow pies, covered up deep
Much cow dung

Black smoke rising, darkening the day
Twelve burning McDonalds, have it your way

The President said "enough is enough
These uppity cows, its time to get tough"
Cow dung flung

The newspapers gloated, folks sighed with relief
Tommorrow at noon they would all be ground beef
Cows on buns

The cows were surrounded, they waited and prayed
They mooed their last moos, they chewed their last hay
Cows outgunned

The order was given to turn cows to whoppers
Enforced by the might of ten thousand coppers
But on the horizon surrounding the shoppers
Came the deafening roar of chickens in choppers

Chorus
