God Loves Man Kills

The X-men come face to face with evil and evil wears the face of a holy man in this Marvel Graphic Novel. The issue starts out with two young children fleeing for their lives, we don't know who they are, but we get to see them die. The people who do it make a statement with the bodies and leave them to be found by the first person to run across them, putting a big "mutie" sign on each of their chests. The first person to come along happens to be Magneto. He takes the children to give them a proper burial and vows revenge on the people who did this to them, all the while mourning the loss of two children he doesn't even know.

We then flash to the headquarters of the "Stryker Crusade", where Reverand Stryker is preparing his next move against the unholy mutants. His newest targets are to be the X-men, who he plans to wipe out with extreme prejudice.

We flash to a scene of a brawl, in which Kitty ends up tackling a bully through a door. Illyana is trying to pull Kitty off of a creep who has been on Kitty's case all week. Kitty is about to rearrange the boy's face when Peter comes around a corner and asks what is going on, distracting Kitty just long enough to get a good hit to her eye by the creep. Kitty then explains why she hit the guy and about how he's talking about Reverand Stryker and how Stryker is going to save the world from the hordes of evil mutants. The other kid then stands up for himself and tells about how mutants are evil and about how he'd rearrange Kitty's other eye. He finishes it off by calling Kitty a mutie lover before Piotr has had enough and makes himself look tough. The other kid immediately backs down when confronted with a bigger and taller man then himself (but he'll hit a distracted woman...figures don't it?). Stevie Hunter, the woman whose dance class was interrupted by the fight tells Kitty to calm down and it's no big deal. Kitty shouts at her that it is a big deal and if someone had used the "n" word maybe Stevie would have been a bit more upset. Stevie starts to understand.

We then flash to the mansion where Kitty talks to Wolverine about getting into the fight and getting a good black eye to show for it. Later the X-men are watching TV and hear Stryker speak. They are not impressed. They all decide to go to the Danger Room to blow off some steam. We then flash to the news conference the X-men had been watching where Professor Xavier, Storm and Scott are checking out the Stryker situation. Scott runs into a woman and apologizes and when he walks off the woman talks to Stryker and plots their death. Meanwhile back at the Danger Room the session doesn't go too well, but no one is hurt. Flashes back to Central Park where we see Professor X, Scott and Storm in the car heading home, when suddenly Professor Xavier senses an attack. The car gets blown up. Cyclops gets them out of the wreckage that was the car and Storm then watches as Cyclops gets shot. She then gets taken down by a bullet herself. The X-men back at the mansion then get a call saying that Scott, Storm and Professor Xavier are dead.

The X-men mourn. Kitty and Illyana are talking up on a hillside about the X-men and how much they are grieving for Storm and Scott and Professor Xavier. When they are walking through the woods back toward the mansion they find an electronic sensor module. Kitty and Illyana become determined to find out who put it there and why. Kitty phases through the unit to disable it and then her and Illyana lie in wait to see who comes to fix the thing. Meanwhile Wolverine finds out that there were indeed three corpses found in the car, but the scents of the people were wrong, so the whole thing about Scott and the others being dead was a con. Wolverine counted on the fact that he, Piotr and Kurt had been followed when they went to check out the accident scene and it paid off. Kurt spotted the men who had followed them. Wolverine decides they should nail the guys. The X-men then proceed to be surprised when Stryker's men put up more than a little resistance. Piotr ends up getting nailed and is about to be killed when Magneto rescues him. Magneto then joins forces with the X-men.

Illyana ends up getting captured when Stryker's team comes to fix the machine and she and Kitty are discovered. Kitty climbs into the trunk and gets gassed. Magneto meanwhile tortures the men of Stryker's that he, Wolverine, Kurt and Piotr had captured and the men tell all they know. Piotr is horrified at the sight of them being tortured. Wolverine just accepts it. We then switch scenes again to where Professor Xavier is hallucinating and is being brain washed by Stryker. We then see that Storm and Scott are held captive in cacoon like metal tubes. Stryker then explains what motivated him to become a psycho. He had a wife who had given birth to a mutant child, an abomination as he called it, and he had murdered both his wife and his child. He then blew up the scene of the car accident that had caused his wife to go into childbirth early and had tried to kill himself in the process, but had not succeeded. He had gotten rescued and when he had come to, he had made a point out of his life to erradicate mutants.

He then gets a call from one of his teams asking him what to do with Illyana and Kitty. He tells them to kill Kitty and do what they want with Collosus' sister and Ororo freaks out. He puts her back into her tube, but not before she conjures one heck of a storm. The Stryker thugs fill the trunk of the car full of bullets to kill Kitty but the trunk is empty. Kitty meanwhile is in an alley trying to get her head together after being knocked out by the gas. She barely gets away from Stryker's head woman Anne and tries to call home for help, but ends up with the payphone she'd been calling from getting blown up with her phasing in the knick of time. Kitty runs into a moving train to get away and a policeman tries to help her, but Stryker's men shoot him. Kitty is too tired to phase at this point and won't leave the policeman anyway so she begs Stryker's men for mercy, not for her but for the policeman who wasn't a mutant at all. Stryker's goons are about to kill Kitty when Magneto shows up and saves her with the rest of the X-men. Kitty by this time is panicking because the police officer is in such bad shape. Magneto removes the bullet magnetically and makes a piece of wreckage into a makeshift flying cart to transport the officer as quickly as possible to a hospital.

Meanwhile Professor Xavier is still being brainwashed. Stryker then tells him to kill Scott and Ororo and it seems that Professor Xavier does so without even blinking, mind blasting them where they are being held in their metal cacoons. Meanwhile, Stryker's honcho Dr. Ramsey, one of the big guys behind everything, goes outside into his limo and Kitty phases him out of the limo, for the first time phasing another body with her. Ramsey throws her off only to get assaulted by Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler uses his intimidating appearance to his advantage to get the information out of Ramsey he wants, and that is where the prisoners are being held.

Elsewhere, Scott and Ororo's "bodies" are being transported to get incinerated and Illyana is being transported to be examined to see if she is a mutant or not. Anne, the head goon for Stryker and two other men climb into the elevator to take Scott and Ororo to the basement and Illyana to examination, but instead of going down to the basement the elevator goes up. Anne and her two thugs start panicking when their guns get slapped to the side of the elevator magnetically. Anne jumps off the elevator and barely misses going off the edge of the roof as the other two in their metal prison go flying off to parts unknown.

The parts unknown is actually to another rooftop where Magneto ties up the bad guys and you see that Illyana is in the elevator and is very happy to see Piotr. Wolverine lifts up the cover of the gurney to find Storm and Scott's bodies. Magneto believes they are dead but Wolverine tells him that he's full of it and that Storm and Scott are in some type of deep stasis and all they need is a heavy jolt of electricity. Figuring that they have nothing to lose, Magneto does as Wolverine bade him and watches in shock as Storm and Scott sit up. It turns out that Professor Xavier fought Stryker and didn't kill them, instead putting them into a heavy sleep that was like death. Scott asks why Magneto saved their lives and Magneto explains his dream of mutants living in peace apart from regular humans. Scott asks him who will defend this utopia once it is created and Magneto replies that the X-men and people like the X-men would, of course, defend it.

Back at the other building where Stryker is about to give a sermon to the world, Anne rushes in and tells him that the X-men had gotten the bodies of Storm and Cyclops and that the doctor is missing and expresses deep concern for their plan. Stryker blows it off saying that the X-men were a group of children who could do nothing. Stryker walks out to the stage to begin his sermon and the crowd goes wild. Two policemen watching Stryker and the crowd talk about how Stryker is a scary man. The X-men are outside when they experience a very deep pain in their heads which Ororo explains is like what her and Scott experienced when Xavier mindblasted them. It is then that the "plan" is revealed. Stryker is going to use Professor Xavier's mind powers to put out a wave that only mutants can feel and kill them all that way. A young mutant in the crowd outside of the sermon goes down and Nightcrawler sees that he's had a massive internal hemmorage. He tries to get help for the youth when Kitty points to his own ears and tells Kurt that they too are bleeding. Kurt realizes that they have to stop Stryker, and fast, or they'll all be dead in no time. Wolverine asks how they are going to stop Styker on national television because if they attack him on TV they'd be giving the appearance of proving Stryker right. While they are debating what to do, Magneto tries to stop Stryker his way, only to be blasted by Xavier. Magneto just has enough strength to keep the crowd from lynching him, but little else afterward. The senator, who is watching the sermon wonders what Stryker is doing, saying that he is a complete madman. The policemen start getting antsy.

The X-men bust into the building and Kitty tries to run to short circut the machine that Stryker has Xavier hooked up to that is hyping up his powers and keeping him mind controlled, but is stopped by Xavier from a distance. The X-men end up fighting Stryker's forces. Back in the auditorium, Anne is about to ask Stryker something when she screams and grabs her head. It is when she sees the blood that she realizes that she's a mutant. She tries to ask Stryker why he is casting her out when she is one of the faithful when he pushes her off the stage. She breaks her neck in the fall and dies. An explosion rocks the building and parts of it are set on fire. The police are being called and Wolverine tells Scott they had to handle Xavier his way. Scott agrees and Wolverine teleports with Kurt to above Xavier. Wolverine extends his claws, ready to kill Xavier if needed as Scott fires his optic blast at the same time, seemingly at nothing and the optic blast ricochets around the building off of walls and down hallways. Xavier deals with the obvious threat of Wolverine and Nightcrawler and doesn't even see the optic blast coming when it knocks him out. Cyclops comes in and blasts Stryker's machine apart and then tells the X-men that he's not running away, that he's going to face Stryker. All of the X-men agree. They go to face Stryker. Cyclops and Stryker exchange words in one heck of a speech and Kitty steps in when Stryker calls Kurt non-human. She tells him what she thinks of that in no uncertain terms and Stryker pulls a gun to shoot her. He's pulling the trigger back when a shot rings out and Stryker falls. One of the policemen who had been watching the crowd shot Stryker to protect Kitty because it was his job and Kitty was unarmed. The policemen tell off the crowd and let the X-men go.

Later back at the X-mansion Professor Xavier has a moment of weakness and tells his students that maybe they should join Magneto because at least Magneto's tactics worked and he was scared because if Stryker had made him into a killer think of what he could do to them all. He'd sworn no more X-men were going to die a long time ago and he was terrified of killing one of his students. Scott tells Professor Xavier where to stick it, giving him a very necessary kick in the keester. Xavier asks Magneto to stay but Magneto refuses reluctantly and leaves. Scott says that all the experience taught them was that Xavier was as human as the rest of them and where was the harm in that. A tearful mushy ending ensues.

My Opinion: This is actually an issue that every X-fan that I've ever talked to has changed their opinion of Magneto forever. Chris Claremont did a really awesome job with this story. It showed exactly how human the X-men were and how frail human life was. It showed how so many evil people hide behind religion as an excuse to do horrendous things and it showed how one man could inspire very dangerous behavior. As Kitty issues go this graphic novel is hard to beat. Kitty uses her brain on a very regular basis and does creative things with her powers and also shows what kind of scrapper and survivor she really is. It showed how close she and Illyana were that they had gone off alone after hearing about the deaths of three of their own and Illyana wouldn't LEAVE Kitty alone until Kitty opened up to her. It showed how much compassion and kindness Kitty has in her that she refused to just leave the cop who had tried to save her life. It also demonstratted her downright obstinance to stand up for what she believed in and her loyalty to her friends when she was willing to get shot to prove to the world that Nightcrawler was as human as anyone. The issue also explained that some just plain old regular humans were willing to put themselves on the line for mutants...all humans do NOT fear and hate mutants (harder to find now a days in the comic books). A very good issue and it is a definite must have for X-men fans.

Uncanny X-men #169

The X-men face down the Morlock's in this issue and we see the resurgance of Caliban. It starts out with Candy Sothern, Warren's girlfriend, coming home from what seems to be work. She sees some of Warren's feathers and wonders if he's molting. Until she sees the blood. She then hears a slight sound downstairs and knowing that the police will never get to her place in time she call's Professor Xavier on speed dial and tells him she's being attacked. Professor Xavier telepathically calls Nightcrawler who is in the middle of a romantic bath with Amanda. He teleports across town quickly and sees Warren being carried down to the sewers right as Candy goes flying out the window. Nightcrawler catches her but realizes she's in a bad way and so he retraces his route and ends up in Amanda's tub with Candy in his arms.

We then flash to the Hellfire Club where Sebastian Shaw is hurrying to see what Tessa, another member of the Hellfire Club told him was so urgent. She leads him to Emma Frost who lays in a near death state. She had said she had a warning for Sebastian before falling into the state, Sebastian learns but past that they know no more, other than that Emma was attacked by something.

We then flash back to Amanda's apartment where the rest of the X-men have showed up to see what they could do to help rescue Angel. Candy tells them what little she knows about what happened. Storm decides that they will go and look for Angel down in the sewers. Amanda stays behind in case the kidnappers come back and Kitty manages to convince Lockheed to stay behind and help her guard Candy. Storm has a mini-Cerebro unit the Professor insist she use and the X-men take to the streets. They end up in the subway with Kurt telling Storm about how a ticket clerk had suddenly become very ill and he thought that it was not a coincidence that it should happen right when Angel disappeared. Storm tends to agree. They lose contact with Professor Xavier when they go too far underground, and Ororo leads them to a solid wall wondering what is behind it, her Cerebro unit telling her they had to get past it. Kitty phases through the wall and opens a secret passageway from the other side. They find a stairway. Piotr wonders how people can live in a place like that, but Ororo assures him that not only do people live there they thrive in places like that. It is then they are attacked from behind by Morlocks. In the middle of the fight Ororo orders Kitty to go and recon the area to find out what they are up against. Kitty leaves the others to the fight and phases further into the underground kingdom. She ends up getting discovered by Callisto's super-senses and even though she is phasing she still is affected enough by plague to get very very sick. She runs away and phases out of their reach, but still falls face first in the sewer she's so ill. She ends up getting rescued by Caliban, who had thought he would never see her again. He is determined to nurse her back to health and takes her away.

Meanwhile the X-men win their fight. They notice Kitty missing but Storm realizes that there is little she can do about it without endangering everyone and so she decides to have faith that Kitty will take care of herself. Kurt then mentions that they are outnumbered and they should call for reinforcements. Storm informs him of the obvious, that they are on their own because there is no way to contact anyone. They enter a tunnel where bright spot lights are suddenly on them and a woman's voice tells them to stay still or be cut down. Storm says that they come in peace, that they are merely looking for their friend who had been taken. Callisto asks if they mean Angel and then tone down the lights and show him nailed to a wall by his wings. She decided to take him from his world to hers so that he could be her king she tells them. And so that he can not fly away she starts to rip out his pinfeathers. Storm, Collosus and Kurt try their hardest to rescue him but are quickly overwhelmed by the Morlocks. Kitty meanwhile wakes up in a nightgown in some type of bedroom. She is burning up with fever and is delirious with fever. Caliban walks in and tells her she needs to get back in bed. Kitty remembers him from somewhere but she can't remember where and passes out in his arms. Caliban realizes she's dying and decides that he will make Plague heal her or else because Kitty is staying with him forever.

My Opinion: As ways for Angel to get pinned to a wall I always thought this was sort of a stupid way to do it. But, the writing pulls it off well somehow and it was actually a nice change to watch the X-men get completely over their heads. And breaking up the really serious note of the issue with Kurt teleporting across town naked to help Candy and then getting a cold on top of it because he was soaking wet when he did it added a bit of realism and humor to the story. Seeing Caliban again and seeing Kitty out of her head with fever is about the extent of her in this issue, although watching her and Lockheed butt heads about him not going with her was sort of fun to read. Overall the issue is worth owning.

Uncanny X-men #170

We open in Reindeer Falls, Alaska. Maddie Pryor and Scott Summers are dancing and are lost in each other. Maddie tells him that they could stay forever in the resort that they are at and the owner wouldn't mind because she had rescued his kid when everyone else had written the child off for dead. Scott realizes that he would be tempted to stay forever with Maddie, but he feels he should run. He's very confused. Scott realizes the best way to handle it is to scare Maddie away and so he shows her a picture of Jean. Seeing her twin in a photo, Maddie tells him she really needs to think about this and walks off, but quickly comes back. They make up.

We flash to the X-men in the sewers where we recap quickly what happened last issue. Callisto then talks to Angel about their wedding. Storm tells her to stop and is subdued by another Morlock. Piotr and Kurt go in for the attack as soon as he hurts Storm. Piotr smacks Sunder senseless, Kurt attacks Callisto and Storm not only gets out of her bonds she generates some lightning to even the odds a bit. Kurt teleports Callisto unconscious and tells the Morlocks to let them go or he'd kill her. Storm backs Kurt up, but Sunder is still standing after trading blows with Collosus. Storm is distracted and Plague gets her. Plague tells Kurt to let Callisto go or he'll kill Storm and Kurt's bluff is called. He gives Callisto back to her people.

Callisto calls Kurt a fool telling him he should have killed her, positions reversed she would have. Kurt asks who what are the Morlocks and she tells him about the group of outcast mutants that can not live on the surface. Kurt asks her how she finds mutants like that. She then tells him about the mutant hound, Caliban. We then flash Caliban who is trying to nurse Kitty. He apologizes to Kitty because he has done his best but Kitty isn't getting any better. Kitty begs him to help her and help the X-men. Caliban tells her he can't because if he does she'll go away and leave him. Kitty in her feverish state tells him that she'll stay with him forever if he helps them. She gives her word. She tells him that if he doesn't help her she'll hate him for the rest of her life and does he really want that? She then passes out again with Caliban calling her name, not knowing what to do.

We then flash to a nightmare that of all people, Mystique is having. She finds Irene downstairs already waiting for her and they talk. Irene then senses suddenly a time line opening involving Rogue and that Rogue was in danger. Mystique rushes upstairs to Rogue's room to find it empty and knows that someone has set them up for this. We then flash to Rogue who is sitting on a bus staring miserably out at nothing.

We then return to the sewers where Callisto is having fun tormenting the X-men. Masque reshapes Ororo's face and Kurt yells at him that he's a monster. Masque is about to attack him as well, after returning Storm to normal, but Callisto stops him. She respects Nightcrawler's courage and knows with his features that he's as much of an outcast as she is. She offers him a place among the Morlocks but he tells her that he does not abandon his friends and he wants to be respected by his deeds, not his looks and he will continue to fight for that. It is then that Caliban shows up with Kitty and begs Callisto to save her life. Piotr actually breaks through bonds he's not supposed to be able to break he's so upset at Kitty's condition and he promises vengeance if she dies. Kurt, with his limited medical knowledge tells them that they have to get Kitty back to the mansion pronto or she's going to die. Callisto refuses to let him leave. Callisto says the only way they leave is if Nightcrawler stays with them. Caliban tells Kurt the only way that Callisto's judgement can be overthrown is if someone overthrows her as leader. Kurt decides to challenge Callisto and does so. Callisto informs him it is to the death, but Storm demands the right to take on Callisto because she is the leader. Callisto agrees.

Callisto throws Storm a knife and even as sick as Storm is she knows how to weild it in a deadly fashion. Kurt thinks that Storm is bluffing. He's proven wrong. Storm starts out clumsy due to her fever, but she whomps Callisto anyway, knifing her through the heart. Callisto falls. Storm grabs Angel and declares herself leader of the Morlocks. Storm offers to bring the Morlocks to the surface, but Caliban tells her that their place is there. The Morlocks let the X-men go, Callisto barely alive due to their healer. Kurt tells Storm that he never expected Storm to do that and Storm tells him that neither did Callisto and that was her mistake.

Scott and Maddie have talked and made out all night and as the sun comes up Maddie tries to grab his sun glasses and Scott freaks. Scott comes clean about being a mutant and Maddie is okay with it.

My Opinion: Reading this issue so ticked me off. Not because Kitty's not in it much, no actually her parts are good and shows her dedication to her friends. No what ticks me off is how very COOL Maddie Pryor was and how they screwed that character later in Inferno and stuff. I'm sure I'll rant about that later too. For now, though, I'll just state that this is a good issue and does tie into a story that happens a couple of issues from this one, but it's more of a good Storm issue than a good Kitty issue.

Uncanny X-men #171

Rogue joins the X-men in this issue, or at least goes to them for help with her powers.

It actually opens with a pretty cool pose of Storm proclaiming herself leader of the Morlocks and informing them of changes in Morlock law. Such as no more attacking people who wander down into the sewers. The Morlock's don't like it but they fear Storm too much to argue. Storm then runs into Callisto who is up much sooner than she should be from her recovery. Storm acts really nasty toward Callisto, the start of a long term rivalry and hatred between the two, and decides to put her back to bed. She hands Callisto over to Sunder while Kurt watches on and wonders about Storm's changes in personality.

Anchorage, Alaska. Maddie awakes from a nightmare about a burning plane. Scott comforts her and she tells him about her experience as being the only one to survive a plane crash and it just happens to be the same day that Jean died. Coincidence? Scott doesn't think so.

We then flash to Carol Danver's house where Carol is still recovering from not having any memories left after Rogue got done with her. She goes through some soul searching and decides to return to the X-men because feeling sorry for herself isn't doing any good.

We go to the X-mansion where Kitty is freaking out that the New Mutants or "X-babies" as she dubbed them, had lost her computer disks. Illyana sits quietly while Kitty rants and raves and then points out where Kitty had placed her disks. Kitty calls herself an jerk, Illyana agrees with her. Downstairs Kitty's temper tantrum is giving Professor Xaiver a headache where Lilandra is trying to help him get his new clone body into shape. Piotr is trying his hand at cooking and not getting too far when Professor Xavier tells him that there is a visitor. Collosus realizes an element of danger in his telepathic message and so he turns into his steel form to face...Rogue. She begs him not to hurt her that she needs their help and we then see Rogue in a chair shaking uncontrollably with all of the X-men looking on as Rogue describes how she doesn't know which one of her personalities is the real her anymore, her or Carol. The X-men are upset at the thought of helping Rogue but Professor Xavier is adamant that she needs his help, and so he sends the X-men out of the room so he can talk to Rogue in private. The X-men decide to go to the Danger Room to work off some steam.

Kitty and Illyana are in the control room and Illyana is programming the computer. She ends up programming a Limbo program into the computer and freaks out when she sees it, not even knowing where she is she conjours the soul sword and attacks Kitty. Kitty gets cut even in her phased form and Kitty realizes exactly how much business Illyana means. Kitty tackles her and disarms her, realizing that Illyana doesn't recognize her and doesn't know where she is. As soon as Illyana is disarmed she returns to her senses and Kitty comforts her while she cries, having remembered everything that had happened to her in Limbo. Kitty is crying too, upset that Illyana is upset and tells the X-men when they come rushing in that Illyana is going to be fine now and not to worry.

Storm goes back to her attic where she tries to water her plants in peace but she ends up killing her plants because she's not serene. Professor Xavier summons Storm and she chucks a knife through his telepathic image blaming him for everything that has happened to her.

Storm goes downstairs to learn that Professor Xavier had contacted the other X-men as well. He tells them that Rogue is going to be an X-man and Storm tells him no. They are getting into an argument when Carol walks in the door and nails Rogue into orbit. Literally. Rogue and Carol fight until the X-men calm Carol down and explain that Rogue was going to be staying with them and that she is going to be an X-man. The X-men tell Professor Xavier that if Rogue stays they go, but Professor Xavier talks them out of it and they, while not liking it, accept it. Carol flies off into space, telling Charles that she understood but she couldn't accept.

Storm goes off and does some soul searching about who she is, Storm or Ororo and the issue ends.

My Opinion: With the exception of the scene with Kitty and Illyana in the Danger Room I really didn't like this issue much. Everything in it seemed forced, from Rogue's "disappearance" to her showing up on the X-men's door and everything. And, I hate to say it but this also signified the hey days of Rogue-Mania as I like to call it and it's sad that people forgot about Carol Danvers once Rogue stepped in. Also, Kitty acted like a brat through this issue except for that one scene, uncharacteristically so, so I wasn't too impressed with it at all.

Wolverine #4

Wolverine is in an adventure in Japan in this issue of Wolverine. About all you need to know about it in regards to Kitty is that this issue sets up some characters, such as Yukio, that you see later in Kitty Pryde and Wolverine and also in X-men. Basically, though, at the end of the issue you see the X-men opening up an invitation to Wolverine's wedding. Kitty's face looks shocked, Storm looks estatic, so does Piotr, Kurt looks shocked and pleased. Logan even comments that he would love to see the expression on their faces when they opened it.

My Opinion: As Kitty issues go this is a cameo. And an expensive one at that. It cost my husband and I 20 bucks for this issue and it was somewhat beat (aka good condition as in comparison to superb for like 60 bucks), so I would just say that if you like Wolverine a LOT it's a good prequel to Kitty Pryde and Wolverine LS, but if you like Kitty the most out of the two and just like the Kitty Pryde and Wolverine LS on it's own and aren't curious about what happened before it in Japan? Don't get this.

X-men Alpha Flight

A bad back story takes us back to the time of Kitty and Piotr's first date.

The issue starts out with some scientists walking into a room full of robots and saying how perfect it is.

Flash to Scott lamenting over Jean's grave that he misses her and he's still trying to be happy like she'd want and he talks to Logan. I point it out because it's a huge continuity error.

We then flash inside the mansion where Kitty and Piotr are getting ready for their "first date" and it's a humorous moment, or is supposed to be. The couple finally leave with Kurt escorting them to The Village.

We then flash to Department H where Mac and a guy talk about stuff.

We then flash back to the Village where Kitty has just splattered her ice cream cone all over Piotr. Piotr takes it okay and they go back to meet up with Kurt to take them home. Kurt then walks around the corner to meet them and sees them being attacked by scads of armor clad robot looking guys. Piotr is still fighting, Kitty is knocked out and that is the last we see of her that issue because she gets teleported away with the armor-clad guy that has her.

Back to Mac's house where Heather is watching TV and seeing what is going on. Mac gets a call and he's understandably upset because it's his technology that is destroying Manhattan.

Back in Manhattan the X-men show up and get kidnapped by Hydra. Mac visits Dr. Gary Cody who is trying to tell him that the robot armor was supposed for Alpha Flight. Mac and he are arguing when Mac gets a call from Professor Charles Xavier. The X-men are being held prisoner 36 degrees north of the equator. The X-men are being held by Hydra and he's determined to see Professor Charles Xavier dead. Mac arrives at the X-mansion and talks to Charles about Hydra. Mac calls Alpha Flight.

My Opinion: Horrible story this is. Seriously. The date between Kitty and Piotr is very not there and Kitty gets knocked out as soon as the attack by the robot things happens. The rest of it is continuity flaws up the yazoo. Scott mourning Jean would not have happened when Kitty and Piotr were dating because by the time Kitty and Piotr would even admit to each other that they liked one another "that way" Scott was already married to Maddie. But hey what do I know. If you want to read a crappy issue, get this one and the next one just to complete the collection.

X-men Alpha Flight #2

For some odd reason Alpha Flight fights the original team of X-men in the Danger Room (in a simulation, not in real life) and don't come out ahead by Professor Xavier's estimation. Mac assures him that they'll bring the X-men back alive. Professor Xavier leaves Alpha Flight to their thing, not very hopeful.

Hydra is having delusions of grandeur in front of the X-men in their prisons. Mac gives Alpha Flight a run down of things on the mission. They go in swinging. Shaman and Sasquatch as well as Snowbird go after the X-men although they've somehow escaped their prisons and are waiting for Alpha Flight. They go to rescue Mac and get there just in time. Kitty just phases through the robots and short out their systems and everyone fights the robots to get to Mac. Hydra gets away after killing his minion who had delieved the X-men and armor into his hands. The X-men go home and all is happy and mushy stuff at the end of the issue.

My Opinion: Kitty's cameo in Spiderwoman 37 was better than everything in these issues. Just my biased opinion though.

Uncanny X-men #172

These issues in Japan, while good, don't have a lot to do with Kitty. They center mainly around Rogue and Wolverine trying to solve a crime. Kitty shows up with Lockheed at the beginning and Logan gets to meet the dragon for the first time. They decide to respect one another. Logan sees Rogue is now an X-men and doesn't take it well, understandbly so since Carol was a very very good friend of his and an old partener. Mariko is nice to her though.

Silver Samurai attacks just because he can. Yukio stops him with some help from Wolverine. Yukio then meets Storm when she slips off of a building. And Ororo's sanity was never the same after that. Kitty tries to cope with how violent Wolverine can be still and Wolverine feels sort of sorry for her. Mariko's maid gets attacked by Viper who poisons the team the X-men then drink. And everyone but Storm gets poisoned.

We see some of Scott in Alaska who is still questioning whether Maddie is Jean reincarnated. Yukio fights Viper and Silver Samurai again to help Mariko out. Storm loses control of her powers helping Yukio and sets herself on fire with lightning. Yukio saves her life by flinging them both into the harbor and the two of them stagger toward help. Wolverine is still recovering from the poison but he's determined to go after Viper. Rogue is unaffected by the poison as much as he due to her half alien physiology so she decides to go with him no matter what.

My Opinion: The issues in Japan are seriously good issues, although they're good Wolverine and ROGUE issues, so if you want good Kitty issues you might want to pick these issues up for the beginning of this issue and the tail end of the next, but Kitty's in little else.

Uncanny X-men #173

Rogue and Wolverine take on Viper and Silver Samurai. Rogue almost dies saving Wolverine and Mariko, so Wolverine is a bit more nice toward her after that. Ororo loses her old outfit in favor of a mohawk and an all leather outfit after Rogue and Wolverine recover for Wolvie's wedding to Mariko.

Maddie gets introduced to the X-men and Lilandra thinks that she is Phoenix so she tries to kill her. Charles stops her and she apologizes when she realizes that Maddie is in fact not Jean. Kitty doesn't take Ororo's new look well and runs off crying, probably thinking that it wasn't fair that one of the stable influences in her life had just lost her marbles. Kitty dresses up for the wedding in all Japanese gear and asks Maddie to watch Lockheed, which leads to a very humorous moment where Maddie realizes that Lockheed is not a cat and these people are far from normal. Mariko, under the power of another evil force, namely Mastermind, calls off the wedding and Wolverine walks away with tears in his eyes.

My Opinion: Seriously even though Kitty isn't in this issue until the end, seeing Maddie's reaction to Lockheed and the other various things that go on at the end of the issue it's still worth owning. And it's not a bad issue even the Rogue and Wolverine story is good.

Uncanny X-men #174

Scott shows Maddie space for the first time and they're all romantic. We see the Starjammers again. We also see Lilandra trying to figure out what is going on with Charle's clone body that it is causing him such problems.

We then flash to Japan where Wolverine is trying to speak to Mariko. So he cleans the clocks of many a Yashida henchmen to get to her. She calls him the murderer of her father. Logan gets mad and tells her off but only after sinking the honor blade into the ground to return it to her. She tells Silver Samurai to get it and he tells Wolverine that he is nothing. Mariko then tells Wolverine to leave her lands forever. He walks away without looking back.

In New York Kitty is reading a Star Wars comic and wants to show it to Piotr. Lockheed is jealous and she's thrilled at the compliment. She goes and knocks on Piotr's door but he's deep in thought over a painting. She disturbs him anyway and pulls him away from his painting to get him to relax. Kitty takes him toward Ororo's attic to water the plants and is pulling him through the hallways in a greatly funny way. She tells Piotr she has a surprise for him and she tells him to close his eyes. He finally does and she looks up at him (classic moment you've got to see it) right before she jumps into his arms, shouts surprise and kisses him good right on the mouth. He's embarrassed as heck and blushing. She then tells him that's not the real surprise and has him close his eyes again and start walking. She airwalks herself and another person for the first time. Piotr opens his eyes and Kitty loses concentration, but he's impressed even though they took a tumble that she was able to do it. Kitty and he then lock eyes and Ororo flies in to find them kissing in her attic.

Kitty then comes to herself, embarrassed, and then notices that all of Ororo's plants are gone. She's needless to say shocked.

Rogue is sick and Kurt is taking care of her. He walks in to find a doll from Amanda and he laughs at the private joke.

We flash to Alaska to find Maddie and Scott engaged. Mastermind is screwing with Scott's head by handing him a picture of Jean in her bathing suit. Scott goes back to the cock pit a bit distracted after that. Later that night Maddie comes home to celebrate their engagement and is shocked to find Scott somewhat distracted. Scott then asks her straight out if she's Jean Grey back from the dead and Maddie decks him. He recovers and goes after her only to be attacked by what he thinks is Dark Phoenix.

My Opinion: You have got to get this issue if not for anything else, for two things. One: Paul Smith's art is stupendous and he does a wonderful job of drawing Kitty and everyone in this issue, but I always loved his Kitty and he does a GREAT job in this issue even for him. Second: The moments between Kitty and Piotr are classic in this issue and it really does show how the two of them were just two kids experimenting and stuff. Very cool.

Uncanny X-men #175

The X-men vs. Mastermind/Dark Phoenix in this issue. It opens with Logan and Piotr chopping down trees and Kitty, even phasing is just getting in the way being cute. Suddenly Scott drops out of the sky in what appears to be a phoenix bird. Rogue catches him and he tells them that Dark Phoenix is back. They get a call from Prof. X and end up in his office. Kitty is in a new cool pirate type of outfit. Prof. X scans with Cerebro and fries himself. Kurt teleports him to the infimary. Kitty checks out the control panel after Wolverine suggests it and Kitty finds that someone messed with Cerebro. Suddenly Scott turns into Dark Phoenix. "Dark Phoenix" whomps all over the X-men. She then leaves and Scott is in critical condition. The X-men get calls from all of the heroes in the world getting irradicated by Phoenix, including Corsair in orbit. Scott has an out of body experience and his mother tells him to return to his body. He does.

Scott figures out that the whole Phoenix thing is a trick, but the trickster also makes the X-men think that Scott is Phoenix. Storm hits him, Collosus pounds him, and in a cool moment Kitty tackles him. Scott though throws them both off the balcony and they phase down into the Danger Room where Scott nerve pinches her unconscious. Scott then proceeds to use his ingenuity and brains to take the X-men out until he can convince them that it is all a trick. Maddie is with Mastermind who has kidnapped her and she gets a bit freaked out by everything.

Scott grabs Rogue's unconscious form after he knocks her out and takes her to where Prof. Xavier is still in critical condition. He touches Rogue's skin to Professor Xavier's to give her telepathy and then links with her to talk her through it. He manages to keep her sane and Rogue blows Mastermind's illusion away. At that moment Mastermind attacks with another illusion and Scott gets shot with a real bullet. Storm realizes that Mastermind is in there somewhere and creates weather Hell in the infirmary. Kitty gets away on Piotr's insistance and she comes back when Mastermind is unconscious and the fury of weather has passed. Scott nurses his wound and then sees Maddie floating face up in the water. He gives her CPR until she comes around and they reunite. At the end of the issue Scott and Maddie get married with Kitty reflecting that she wishes she could patch up things between Wolvie and Mariko. Mushy ending with everyone looking at their boyfriend/girlfriend and looking romantic.

My Opinion: This, while not a Kitty issue really, is one of the best Scott issues of all time. You finally get to see why he was leader of the X-men for so long, instead of what they've done to his character since. Seeing Scott and Maddie get married ticked me off even worse that they brought Jean back and made her into a clone. She was a GOOD character dang it!!! Kitty was good in this issue too and it was nice that Wolverine deferred to her judgement when it came to what was wrong with Cerebro. She is also in a pretty cool pirate-like uniform and Lockheed even got some blows in. Pretty cool issue.

Uncanny X-men #223--Flashback

The part of this issue that is relevant is that Maddie has a flashback while in Australia to her's and Scott's wedding day. Kitty was there and it shows in a sketch during the flashback. Maddie is contemplating Scott leaving her and if he ever loved her at all. So, the wedding was just the beginning of the flashback and that's all that Kitty is in.

My Opinion: I really don't have an opinion on this issue really. I liked the X-men running around trying to find the Mauraders after they had whomped all over Kitty and Kurt, but other than that I'll leave the rest of my opinion out, because it has nothing to do with Kitty.

The Uncanny X-men Annual #7

The X-men fight the Impossible Man in this hillarious issue of X-men. It opens with the X-men having a baseball game when they get attacked by what they think is Galactus. Charles tries to make contact and goes all goofy physically. The X-men decide to defend their home, but to no avail. There is a blinding light and suddenly the mansion is gone. The X-men track down Galactus to SHIELD's helecarrier. Nick Fury and his girlfriend are getting "friendly" when Kitty phases through the ceiling after the bad guy. Impossible Man turns into a snake-like being, freaks Kitty out and when Lockheed blasts a hole through the wall he drops out of the helecarrier looking like a wooden Indian, having already snatched Nick Fury's eyepatch. Kitty apologizes to Nick, sort of and yells for help. Nightcrawler runs in, grabs Kitty and Lockheed and teleports away with Lockheed saying over his shoulder, "Ta". The X-men then run to the Savage Land after their foe in search of their house as well. Ka-Zar shares with them the fact that he too has been robbed, of Zabu. Rogue figures out that their foe is on a scavenger hunt, but she can't figure out why.

Professor Xavier tells them that their foe is heading due North now and the X-men are off again. The end up at the Avenger's headquarters where the Fantastic Four's Fantasticar is heaped up with stolen property on the Avenger's lawn. She-Hulk thinks the X-men are to blame for stealing the stuff and whomps on them. Piotr then gets nailed by Iron Man. Rogue becomes conscious and grabs ahold of She-Hulk, thus gaining her powers. Iron Man realizes that he's in trouble when he gives Rogue his best blast and she laughs it off. Piotr then grabs a hold of him and nails him into the pavement but it's when Kitty phases through Iron Man by accident that Iron Man is taken out of the fray. Kitty apologizes to him as she's running to catch the bad guy. Iron Man finds out that Wasp's costume collection was stolen and that was it. He's baffled.

The next target is the Hellfire Club. Wolverine goes up to where Emma's lying froze and tries to attack the flowers that are lying on top of her. They change shape into a water gun and then Sebastian Shaw comes in and kicks Rogue's butt. Meanwhile the water gun turns into a balloon and then into a rocket which takes off and blasts through the roof. Storm conjours a whirlwind and taking all of the X-men with her she chases after their foe. Meanwhile Impossible Man is in a building looking for his friends and find they've moved so he moves on. We then hit Marvel HQ (seriously) where the writers are talking about Sabertooh tigers in a very funny scene. They then open the elevator and get run over by Zabu. The X-men then run over them too with the writers talking all the while. The X-men trash Marvel HQ in a really hillarious scene chasing after the Impossible Man. You find out that Impossible Man is trying to kidnap Stan Lee, but he's not able to do it as the X-men foil his plan. Rogue tackles Impossible Man to gain his powers and he zaps her bigtime. He is upset she attacked him because he thought the X-men were just playing the game. When asked, "what game" he tells them about the scavenger hunt he's on. The X-men realize that he's really sorry and they try to figure out how to make amends to the Marvel staff for destroying the place. They grab all the spoils that Impossible Man has on him collect and take off to get the rest. They find out that Impossible Man and his family were on a scavenger hunt to figure out who would be the ruler of their family. It is then that the victims of his scavenger hunt come after him and his family. Lilandra steps in and mediates the skirmish by agreeing to judge the scavenger hunt IF Impossible Man will return all of his spoils. He agrees and so do the aliens.

We then see Impossible Man crying by the pool because he lost the hunt. Kitty and Illyana are comforting him and eating ice cream. In a truly hilarious moment Impossible Man turns into Tom Seleck and asks if he can have their ice cream. Illyana and Kitty offer it to him without even thinking about it, drooling at the sight of Tom Seleck. Impossible Man, then armed with his ice cream turns into Garfield and the story is over. We then see Eliot R. Brown, Louise Simonson's assistant editor, pull out a huge billboard to show people who to thank for the drawing and writing of the issue.

My Opinion: This is a great issue and you should go and buy it right now. The issue is hillarious and not only that but this is Assistant Editor month on the X-books (January 1983 I believe) and so it's great because you get to see people at Marvel HQ in the issues. Talk about looking back on the good ol' days. Great great stuff in this issue.

Captain America #289 -- Behind the Scenes

The only relevant part of this issue is that Captain America's enemies are talking about obliterating everything and it shows the X-men getting wiped out. It is one of the greatests shots of Kitty's knee you'll ever see (it's the right one...oooooooo).

My Opinion: If you want a Kitty issue don't buy this.

Marvel Team Up #135 Spiderman and Kitty Pryde

Spiderman is trying to stop an out of control train. He gets smacked and captured by the Morlocks.

Meanwhile Kitty is babysitting to prove to Professor Xavier that she's responsible. She's babysitting two kids, Edward and Jeff, who are fighting constantly while she's there. She's talking on the phone to Storm telling her about her night and why she's babysitting. Kitty slams the phone down and makes the two boys go to bed, afraid for her sanity. She compares the whole experience to the Danger Room. What she doesn't count on is the kids sneaking out. The boys sneak down to "the pit" a big hole in the ground out in the middle of the woods. One of the boys slides down into the pit and disappears. Jeff, the other brother goes running off and gets Kitty. Kitty grabs him and slides down into the pit so she can keep an eye on him and try to figure out where Edward went. Kitty realizes that the hole is recently dug and gets a bad feeling right before Morlocks come out of the woodwork and attack her and Jeff. Kitty defends herself and tries to get Jeff to run, but he doesn't stand a chance. Kitty watches as the Morlocks drag him underground and phases after them. Kitty sees them hop into a magnecar and quickly grabs the last one before other Morlocks can so she can go after the kids and she realizes that the magnecars are how the Morlocks get around the sewers.

Meanwhile the kids get thrown into a cell where Spiderman is being held by energy shackles. Edward grabs a cup of water and throws it on Spiderman's restraints. The agony is enough to set Spiderman free. Spiderman decides it's time to get out of there. Kitty meanwhile has managed to get right outside of their cell and has tricked some Morlocks into phasing through her so she could grab the keys to the cell, right when the cell door comes flying off. Kitty phases to stop it from taking off her head and the boys introduce Spiderman to their babysitter, although Spiderman can't figure out how she survived the door flying at her like that. She says she ducked. He doesn't believe her.

They are running for the nearest exit when they're attacked by Morlocks. The kids hold their own in the fight even though Kitty tries to keep her and the kids out of it to preserve her secret identity. She is attacked from behind though and phases instinctively. She realizes that Spiderman must have seen it and her cover was blown, but she can't worry about it right then because she's fighting for her life. She tells Spidey to head for the surface and he recognizes who she is but keeps it a secret for her. She has him throw her in a fastball special and nails the creap that is about to clock the kids in the back of the head. They fight the Morlocks off enough to make a run for the surface. They end up in the middle of New York. Spidey offers to see Kitty and the kids back to Westchester, but Kitty declines in favor of calling Professor Xavier and making him pay for taxi fare, figuring he'd never make her babysit again after that hit to his wallet.

My Opinion: Classic issue. Classic Kitty. She not only uses her brains and training, but she and Spidey quickly work out a good system for working together to get out of the sewers alive. You even start to like the kids and respect them by the end of the issue. I'd get this issue if I was a Kitty fan or a Spiderman fan. It's equally good with both characters. And the art is great.

Moon Knight #35

Kitty is in an almost-cameo in this issue. She has a couple of lines and is sitting in a theartre watching an opera with the X-men and the Fantastic Four when they are attacked. The X-men save members of the crowd when the opera gets nailed by bad guys. Kitty grabs one guy before he can get trampled and phases him to safety. Cute cameo appearances by both teams, but that's about it for the X-men in this issue.

Opinion: Even though it's a cameo it was great to read this little narative box, "Her name is Kitty Pride *yes it really is spelled wrong in the issue*. She's got spunk." Even with the mis-spelling of her name it was a great two liner. Other than that the art isn't good and the story revolves around Moon Knight except for that cameo with the X-men and FF, so I don't think I'd recommend it for a Kitty issue keeper.

Uncanny X-men #177

Mystique goes through Murderworld to figure out how to kill all of the X-men. She manages it with the exception of Kurt who she can't kill. He nails her and it's the end of the training session.

Kitty is at dance class and is depressed about what has happened to Ororo. She talks to Stevie who can't figure out what the big deal is because she thinks Ororo just changed her haircut and her appearance. Kitty explains that it's more than that, that Ororo has changed completely and Ororo walks in in the middle of it and asks if Kitty thinks the new her is a monster. Kitty says compared to the Ororo she used to know, maybe and walks off, phasing so Storm can't grab her. The thing that scares Ororo the most, she confides to Stevie, is that she fears Kitty may be right calling her a monster. Lilandra bids goodbye to Charles to go and reclaim her kingdom and Corsair says goodbye to his sons.

We then flash to the X-men who are going to the theatre. Kurt gives Kitty a hard time about her and Piotr when Kitty and Piotr go to park the car before the show starts. Amanda and Kurt are talking as they're walking into the theatre and Kitty and Piotr are walking back from parking the car when there is an explosion at the top of a building. Piotr does what he can to help the victims while Kitty summons the fire department. Piotr runs right into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and gets whomped, stomped and hammered. Kitty watches as Piotr is grabbed by a bird of living fire that Pyro has created. He then drops out of sight again. Piotr is heated white hot and thrown to the ground where Avalanche then freezes him with liquid nitro. Kitty hears Piotr scream and goes running and she finds him a living statue.

My Opinion: This issue and the next one really show what kind of nasty bad guys the Brotherhood of Mutants used to be. It also shows the bad guys using brains, a under-used concept really. This also shows Kitty's devotion to her friends and Piotr in particular that she would rush right into an unknown situation where she knows Piotr is going to be hurt to try and help him. Very good issues really.

Uncanny X-men #178

Continuation of the last issue. Kitty looks at Piotr in his statue-like state and sort of falls apart until she realizes she has to figure out something to help him. She knows that he's in a condition that she doesn't think he can survive but she's determined to try and save him. She uses all of her training to contact Professor Xavier and tell him what happened and ask what to do because she knows that the bad guys are probably going after Kurt and Amanda. Professor Xavier sends out a call to Wolverine and Storm to aid them. Storm and Wolverine are in the middle of a Danger Room session but drop everything and go running to the other X-men's aid. Xaiver is then assailed by a sudden severe headache and Rogue, who is the only other one home, is worried about him and asks if he needs some asprin. She leaves to get some and Professor Xavier realizes that it was a scanning wave that he'd been hit with that gave him such a bad headache.

Kitty remembers an article she read in "Scientic American" that Reed Richards had created a device that would thaw organic matter without harming it, which Kitty realizes is what Piotr needs. She catches a taxi by phasing into it toward the Fantastic Four building. She breaks in and tries to steal the device, but as she's figuring she'll airwalk to the next building over she's taken by surprise by a security widget and falls off the building. We see that the Morlocks are up to something in a nearby alley.

Kurt and Amanda are making out waiting for Kitty and Piotr and are attacked by Pyro. Kurt and Amanda start by holding their own against the Brotherhood but are getting whomped on by the time that Wolverine and Storm show up. After that the tide turns and the X-men whomp all over the Brotherhood.

Mystique breaks into the mansion and pretending to be Rogue shoots Professor Xavier. Rogue stops her from killing him telling Mystique that Professor was her last chance to control her powers and she was taking it. Mystique projects herself to the X-men who are going to turn the Brotherhood over to the police and proposes the Brotherhood's freedom for Prof. X's life. The X-men take the deal.

We then see Kitty lying in a pool of blood on the ground by the FF building, dead. Or what we think is Kitty.

My Opinion: This is a good issue in parts and a weird issue in parts, but it all comes together later, so I would say it's worth owning. Good Kitty moments anyway and it leads into the next issue which is a MAJOR Kitty issue as far as I'm concerned.

Uncanny X-men #179

Kitty is being dressed up in a wedding dress down in the Morlock tunnels drugged out of her mind.

Meanwhile, the X-men are at the morgue when Wolverine tells Storm that the body isn't Kitty. Storm has already conjoured one Hell of a storm in her grief when Wolverine tells her that the scent is wrong. Storm is determined to find Kitty. Meanwhile Kurt is trying to figure out what to do for Piotr and isn't thinking of any ideas. He can't even tell if Piotr is alive or dead. Storm tells Professor Xavier telepathically about Kitty and Prof Xavier is suddenly attacked psychically. Professor Xavier is conscious enough to say that it is a scanning wave of extra-terrestrial origin before he lapses into shocked unconsciousness and has to be put into a life support cell.

Kitty thinks she's marrying prince charming until she sees Caliban's face and slaps herself back to reality, no longer drugged. Kitty realizes she can't phase and starts panicking. Callisto confronts Kitty and asks her if she had promised to return to the Morlocks if Caliban helped her when she was sick and had also promised to stay with Caliban forever. Kitty hangs her head and admits that yes she did promise. Callisto says the only way for Kitty and Caliban to live together is to marry them. Kitty is disgusted at the thought. Callisto is just estatic that Kitty is in pain because it makes her revenge over Storm that much sweeter. Kitty then remember Colossus and begs Callisto to let her go because she had the only means of saving him. Callisto makes her promise to come back and Kitty does promise. Callisto asks why they should trust Kitty and Kitty makes a break for it, determined to help Piotr. She then gets lost and retrieved by Leech. Masque messes with Kitty's face until seh pushes him away in disgust. He then really mutilates her but Callisto makes him put Kitty back.

Caliban and Kitty are in the middle of the wedding ceremony when the X-men show up to rescue Kitty. Kitty tells Storm to stay out of it, that she's doing the ceremony out of her own free will, but Storm doesn't listen and attacks the Morlocks. Callisto and Ororo get into a free for all and Wolverine is about to step in when Kitty stops him and yells at everyone to stop it. She comes up with a plan to get the Morlocks to help them save Collosus.

Back at the mansion Rogue absorbs Collosus's powers and ends up like he was, a living statue. Piotr is then healed of his thousands of wounds by the Morlock healer.

Later Kitty stands at the head of the subway tunnels saying goodbye to Illyana. she asks Illyana to give some letters to her mom and dad and Piotr and others adn they hug. Illyana tells her it isn't fair, but Kitty tells her that Wolverine would understand that it had to do with honor. She walks into Caliban's room with her wedding dress on and is ready to marry him but Caliban realizes that Kitty belongs in the sun and releases her from her promise, giving her a rose to remember him by. Kitty hugs him and a friendship is born.

My Opinion: GREAT Kitty issue and I would suggest getting it now. If for nothing else the way she tells off the X-men, is willing to sacrifice herself to keep her word and the way her and Illyana got a moment to say goodbye...that was great great stuff.
