Product: Tabasco Brand Cheese Flavored Popcorn
Manufacturer: Houston Harvest Gift Products, Franklin Park, IL

I saw the bag, and it stopped me in my tracks. The big
Tabasco logo beckoned me, called to me, drew me in.
It was talking to me, saying, "TRY ME, DAMMIT!!!".

Now before you think I'm going "schizo" on you all, rest
assured that I am not hearing voices or thinking that food
can talk to me. But when I caught sight of this bag of cheese
popcorn with the giant Tabasco label stuck front and center,
I just had to try this stuff immediately.

Truth be told, this stuff is pretty good. Granted, while some
popcorn products, like Smartfood, stand out among the rest,
it is really hard to screw up cheese flavored popcorn. I can
say I've never really had any terribly bad cheese popcorn.
Sure, I've had a few brands where the flavoring left too
much finger residue, or tasted somewhat "unique". But
they were always palatable. Cheese popcorn has been and always will be a good time-honored snack. Hell, the only way I could picture cheese popcorn being bad enough not to eat is if it started crawling on your arm the moment you open the bag.

With that said, the Tabasco offshoot is a really nice update of a classic snack. The cheese flavoring and the popcorn itself is pretty much average, but the addition of the Tabasco flavoring takes this product to new heights.

However, as I said about the Snyder's Jalapeno flavored Pieces in this same issue of EOG, this product is also NOT FOR THE MEEK. If you are inclined to like the Tabasco sauces, flavorings, and all things Tabasco in the first place, then I would highly recommend this product. Although, it will take you a number of servings to get through a big bag of this stuff. But, if you suffer from a tender tongue or a twitchy tummy, then you probably want to avoid this popcorn. Stick with Smartfood or something similar. If you try this stuff, it will hit you like "That-smarts-food", and that, obviously, is not a good thing.

As I mentioned, the popcorn and underlying cheese flavor are pretty much average, but, Tabasco-lover that I am, I still give this stuff three chips up.
